Look at these sentences:

Forgetting assignments, not taking the right books with you, blowing bubbles in class, and yawning in the teacher's face[,] will get you nowhere.

The reason that we all have difficulty with remembering names when we are in social situations and people expect us to know who they are even if we met them only once a long time ago[,] is that tension blocks the door to our memory pool.

When you have a long subject--and a subject can go on for many lines in some cases--do not give in to the urge to mark the end of it with a comma [S,V], any more than you would in

Mary[,] had a little lamb.
